1989 5.0 GT issues
Recently I purchased my 2nd fox body, clearly I'm hooked because their now the only vehicles I own. I enjoy the simplicity of everything, I feel with the help of this forum I can fix anything myself! But as of late I have been running into problems that I can't six myself nor seem to find help with. Anyways... my gauge cluster went so I picked one up at the junkyard for 50 bucks. Everything works, except for my oil pressure. The needle reads at 100 regardless if the car is on or off, although I just changed the oil I know this can't be right. Is it a faulty oil switch? Or perhaps a oil sending unit? Also, I just bought some new switches for the headlights, etc. Now, I noticed the foglights are not working... I checked for loose wires but they are all in correctly, any other suggestions? Finally I also have an 1988 and my foglights are also not working. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

sorry for double posting.. but I can't NOT post this... on my 1989, I have a little white smoke coming out of the tail pipes.. I have straight pipes into flowmaster 40s I do not have cats on it. what could cause this?

oil gauge pegged like that could be the wiring or the sending unit. Removing the wire should zero the gauge, grounding the wire should peg it high.
Foglights, you're gonna wanna do this first, then diagnose from there: http://www.corral.net/tech/maintenance/foglights.html
White smoke could be condensation, or coolant. Buy this: http://www.tooltopia.com/lisle-75500...aign=nextag_r1

Ok as far as the white smoke, let me explain what happened before and maybe that could still be the culprit. We replaced the intake manifold gaskets. It was leaking antifreeze fluid into the exhaust. There was alot of antifreeze coming out of the exhaust. What I'm thinking is maybe that is still going thru the system and burning off in the exhaust.
As far as the oil gauge, where is the sending unit located? What does it look like? And what wire is it that we are testing(color)? I removed the wire from the oil switch which is located above the oil filter. Is this the wire we are talking about?
Thanks again for the links about the foglights and white smoke issue, I'll most certainly check those first thing.

I was having sorta the same problem with my 94 gt . The temp gauge and oil pressure gauge in the dash would always climb all the way up to high , even though i know it wasnt right. I just eliminated them both with some cheap 40$ sunpro mechanical gauges and did away with the wires to both sending units. Im much happier with the mechanical gauges because now I know exactly what my oil water , and voltage is.
If that white smoke is from condensation it should clear up shortly once the engine and exhaust get hot. If it was residual from the leaking intake it should have cleared up after the first time getting the exhaust and engine good and hot. If its still noticable at operating temps all the time, then you still have a leak into the exhaust , be it intake or head gasket .
