Can a Bad PIP Sens. ruin your Ignition Module?
#4
The reason I ask this is because my ignition module tested bad at Oreily's and I am wondering if it went bad due to a faulty PIP sensor or just succumbed to heat? I also don't know if my logic is even correct because it seems the car wouldn't run with a bad PIP..

I just put in a new billet distributor. I think you can get the PIP sensor aftermarket but I dont know the quality of them. Napa would probably be the best one to get if they have it. Stay away from GP Sorenson though.

I got one from oreilys for $20. Mine may or may not be bad, but I am changing to avoid any possibility of it damaging the new ignition module I got as well.. Now I am having extreme difficulties getting the roll pins out of the dist shaft, but that is another thread...

Should I get another roll pin or two? Will give it a go tomorrow with a real punch set rather than makeshift tools. Also I see how the vice is necessary. My sore fingers will be glad for it. thanks Matt for all the help here and there. Feels good to break ground on these issues. Couldnt have done it without you and others input on this awesome site. Thanks all!
