Default Simple stupid question . . .

Anyone know how to remove the black plastic "T" handle from the top of an '85 Mustang automatic trams shifter?

Looked all over and couldn't find a screw or bolt or tab or anything, pulled up on it and nothing, didn't dare try unscrewing it, not sure if that might not break something inside.

Thanks !

T

Pretty sure it's inside, behind the button. The screw, that is.

Damn !

Makes sense. How does the button come out to get at the screw then . . . . ?

These things shouldn't be this difficult.

Thanks guys, got it off last night. It was just a pull-of. No set screw or anything.

A quick tug upwards on the handle and it came right off along with the push button.

Interesting to see how things work inside, the button has a slot in the end of it's shaft which rocks a small lever with a thin cable attached. When the cable is pulled upwards it allows for park to be engaged.

Easy Peasy
