Default Removing console

I have a short under the console (power outlet). How do I remove it without causing damage to the factory radio? Every video I have found does not show that part.

I'm not sure on this, but I had the exact same thing in my car and just removed the fuse. No more dead battery. I can't remember if anything else was on that circuit but I didn't think there was.

If your saying the radio is in that circuit, you could just replace that outlet (cigarette lighter), I thought you just unplug the wire connectors.

Are your talking about your 84 that's listed as your vehicle or is it for the 89 in your sig?

And when you say " power outlet " are you referring to the cigg lighter ?

The 89. The 84 got wrecked by a drunk illegal with no insurance. The cigarette lighter is shorting out under the console, I saw the sparks. The things on that circuit are the horn, cruise control and cig lighter.

Pull the trim around the shifter up (manual just has clips dont know about auto), pull oval plugs off the rear sides of console and remove 4 8mm head bolts, then you will see 4 phillips screws holding the top of the console down, two per end. Remove those and console will slide up and youll have to unhook the power mirror switch before you can completely remove the console top. Power outlet has a plug too.

Nah only need to remove radio if you remove the lower console. Those are a pain in the *** with the shifter base still in the car.
