Mustang build. Help!
Hey guys, I'm new to this I came here looking for help building my 90 foxbody lx into something I can drag race.
So here's the situation. I have a 390 block that I want to use, i just got it cleared out and I'm having it cleaned and bored out .110 to 4.160. I've been told that it's to much bore and some people say it can be done. I want to get the motor to a 462. Does anyone have any input in that aspect? I'd also like to know what kind transmission, rear end, tires, heads, and intake would be best. This is my first build I'm new to all of this. Any help or information is appreciated. Thanks!

Seems like an awfully big bore for a stock block. If you want something that big you might be better off with a big bore dart 351w block. Be easier to swap that in too since there are already off the shelf parts available to do it. I know when I built my 331 people said you could easily bore a 302 big bore block to 4.125". Some said even larger.
Heads and intake equals sky's the limit. You can run anything from gt-40 heads to Trick Flows up to some crazy custom stuff. Just depends on your budget and how radical you want to go. Those would be 302-351w options. Dont know about a FE motor.
For Tranny's most guys run auto's. In the process right now of putting a th-350 in my brother's turbo car for drag racing. They make adapter plates to run any gm or ford tranny on either engine. Just have to track down the right one.
Rear ends 9" or 8.8"
Tires depend on how much street driving youll do. If you do a lot Id get two sets of wheels and have street tires and some slicks. If you do some but not a lot look into a good set of drag radials.
