Non mustang electrical problem, knowledgable help plz
Buddy of mine has an mx6, which are notorious for internal window switch problems, causing the switch to not operate. So, in leu of paying $280 for a new window switch from mazda, i'm gonna wire in a universal toggle for him as a temp fix.
The problem lies here. I have a 3 prong switch, On-Off-On, and if you know how a window motor operates, you know that power AND ground must be switched between the two wires in order for the motor to operate.
I've mulled over the ideas of running constant power to both, then grounding out one, etc etc..
Also thought about running constant ground to both, and then diverting power to one or the other, based on switch position.
Both of those scenarios will inevitably create a short.
Is there any way to make this situation work without buying another 3 prong switch? I'd really like to not have to fab up 2 seperate switches just so the window will operate.

Might seem mundane, but couldn't you just wire up two switches (two position), one for each direction. Each would ground (or power depending on the system) in the other direction.
