94 GT, Metal hose that runs above X-pipe
Hey guys,
This is probably a long shot without any pictures but here goes nothing..I was recently under my car changing the diff fluid when I was inspecting the exhaust I noticed a metal hose above the x-pipe that was not connected to anything, nor could I find a place where it might connect to.. I followed the hose and it runs to what appears to be an egr type line (Its under the throttle body to the right, right above the plugs and wires)
I have no idea what it might be or where it needs to connect to..
ANY help is highly appreciated as I am driving the car across country thursday ..Thanks

I have an idea of what it could be, but then again I don't know that much..Its not a factory exhaust, its an x-pipe w/o cats and flowmaster duals but the headers are stock..I'm assuming it has something to do with the EGR and that metal hose connected to the stock exhaust..
Let me know if I'm crazy..

From the smog pump there is a hose that branches off to two different hoses... one runs to that pipe you found and the other runs to a pipe that feeds air into the back of each head. There are solenoids near the pass. firewall that runs the valves in this system. All of it can be removed.
Just unplug the solenoids, cap off the vacuum lines to them and remove. Remove the pipe behind the heads and screw a bolt in each hole in the back of the heads to cap them off (this can be difficult sometimes because the threads will be carboned up). Cap off the pipe that you found on the H/X pipe and remove the hoses that run from the smog pump... and remove the smog pump if it's still there and run a shorter belt to bypass is... don't buy one of those cheap pulleys that take it's place, the bearings don't last long on them and it's better to have the extra room too.
Hope this helps.
