Yeah the svo calipers bolt right up to 87-93 spindles. But, I will say when I did it on my car you must attach the hose to the caliper before fully bolting the caliper in place, the banjo bolt wont clear the shock otherwise. You may also find that you need a bigger master cylinder to help push more fluid, which one depends on your setup. Keep in mind if anyone wants to go 5 lug this set up doesn't apply as far as info I have found. There is plenty of info on the swap if you do some searching

I think you're thinking of 2.3 vs 5.0.

I've always been told LX and GT 5.0's are the exact same minus the bumpers/molding. (haven't owned both so I can't say from experience)

Perhaps you're right, it was my understanding when I went into it it was the gt spindles that were different, either way I had to swap. He can always try to just get the calipers and see if they bolt up to what he has now

Yes they will, but it may not be necessary to swap with the info fiveohfox provided. I would get the calipers first and see if they bolt up fine. Keep in mind if you put these calipers in you may notice your pedal being way too soft, this is because they require more fluid, so research master cylinder options as I mentioned before. There is a lot of info, all you have to search is svo caliper upgrade

According to that page, yours has 10" rotors, which would explain you needing to swap parts.

Here's a tidbit from that page about the SVO swap.

Upgrade the front calipers to 73mm SVO units - master cylinder upgrade required.

Get the 73mm calipers with a steel piston if you can. They are usually denoted in the part numbers with a "S". If not the phonemic will work fine on the street. Get the calipers for a '91 Lincoln Mark VII for a direct bolt in (other 86-91 Lincoln's should all have the 73 mm calipers, 86-91 Crown Victorias and 84-86 SVO 4cyl Turbo Mustangs). Here are the part numbers the remanufactured Bendix parts:

Left caliper : R55247S
Right caliper: R55246S
