gt500 exhaust break in?
#11
I'm definitely leaning towards getting the resonators taken off now, I would get an off road x pipe, but I compete in scca autocross, and I have to leave from the cats forward alone to stay in my class. Has anybody who has taken the resonators off with the gt500 exhaust not liked the sound? I do want it to increase the volume, but i'm more concerned with the sound/tone quality I don't want it to sound cheap or sloppy like a truck exhaust.

I had the gt500 mufflers on mine for about 15,000 miles and they do change a little in sound. I loved the sound they produced, just wasnt loud enough for me. Roush mufflers are LOUD but I love them! Absolutely no drone and sound fantastic IMO

I took the resonators out after header install, no regrets. You might try an aftermarket 3" h'pipe with a resonator delete. I heard that setup (can't remember the hpipe brand) and it was pretty sweet. The Hpipe deepened the tone a lot and they were loud.

If the mufflers are strictly a baffled muffler with no filler, there is not any reason the sound should change one bit over time unless they rust out. It's just a hunk of metal. If they have fiberglass or mineral wool packing - then yes, if would not be unusual to notice a change in sound over time.

I think I'll get an estimate for the resonator removal this week, like I said love the sound just need a little more volume, plus at below 3000 rpm they are silent, would like a little bit more rumble when cruising through a parking lot. If and when I take them off I'll let you guys know how it sounds
