What would a 69' 429 engine be worth?

somehow i doubt any of you guys who think your talking about BOSS 429's really have leads on BOSS 429's. the friggen valve covers are worth more than 350 bucks - the whole motor? 5-10k easily if its complete.

Is it a boss or like a cobra jet? I would try to get the whole car not just the engine. I doubt it is the original engine though. Why would he sell the engine but not the car? Such a rare find that it seems unlikely.

The actual engine restored would be worth more than your car if it is a boss 429 engine. The cobra jet engine would be worth a couple thousand I would think. Like 4-5k? Don't quote me on that though.

I already posted what he has based on the casting #'s he posted. No '69 Mustang or Cougar ever came from the factory with a 429 NON Boss engine.

Again...... That engine came from a T-Bird or full sized Ford. If it was in '69 Mustang as he claims then some one else put it in there, NOT the factory.

Based on the casting #'s DOVE-C heads c9ve-b he gave I got the following info on them.

"The Four Types of 429s
(Thanks to Dan Davis)

First was the base 429, known as the Thunder Jet (TJ). It came in T-birds and full size Fords in the late 60's and early 70's. Typically 360 horsepower. By far and away the most common -- they made 100,000+ of these. Can be ID'd be block casting numbers of C8SE, C9VE, D0VE, D1VE among others and head casting numbers of C8SE, C9VE, D0VE among others."
The site this is from.
