94 v6 to v8 swap
hi, i have a 94 mustang v6 5 speed that im looking to swap over to a v8 as a summer project. thanks low 5.0 for the article on all the parts that are needed but i have a few questions. namely if i get a carbed motor wouldnt it make things alot easier? they dont have emissions by me so i think i can get away with it. also why wouldnt i be able to use the flywheel, clutch, and bellhousing i already have? im reasonably certain that they will bolt up without too much trouble at least if the trans is the same and ford has used the same pattern to bolt on the bellhousing for a long time.
finaly what is the fuel pressure coming off of my stock fuel pump right now? is it possible to get a regulator that will knock it down to where i can use a carbureated motor with the stock fuel pump?
thanks
steven

also i know i have to get a new exhaust for it and everyone is talking about duals being the only option. i have a 95 gmc that i put a 383 stroker in and im running a single 3 inch exhaust in and it sounds awesome. is there a reason everyone runs duals or can i still run a single with a large diameter exhaust?

Read the tech articles, great info there

Exhaust- 2 1/2 inch duals with an X or H pipe, no reason to run anything bigger

thanks, i already read that though. i want to go carbed though instead of efi, and i want to know the legality of that, and when i go carb if i can use my stock fuel pump with a pressure regulator or do i have to buy a new fuel pump?
also my car is a convertible, is there anything in the engines ecu that operates the top or is it a seperate system? same for my radio. i already know im goin to loose most of my gauges when loose the ecu but what wont i loose?
with the exhaust everyone has duals, i want something that will kind of stand out, most people come rolling up on a mustang and see single pipe exhaust they assume v6, i want to prove them wrong. so has anyone done a single pipe exhaust on a v8?

Again, you drive a mustang. V8 mustangs have duals, if you want a big single pipe go get a crapmaro. As for the regulator you will want to swap over to a mechanical pump otherwise you will blow the seals on the regulator and burn out the pump quicker. The ECU doesn't control the top or radio. The only gauge that through the ECU to the gauges that I know of is the tach. Everything else can have another wire ran if needed when you pull out the extra harness and hooked up to the chasis harness to work. As for the legality you will need to consult your local laws. Some states say no, some don't care.

You`ll be wasting your time with anything but dual, keep the gmc and chevy bs exaust on the gm cars! why not go efi its just an engine bay harness! wrecked sn car 94/95 5.0 car just unbolt it that simple!
you can keep all your other than sensor electrinocs by keeping the ecm in the car! your harness splits and goes under the dash! we have a 93 carbed using the ecm for dash etc! get a carb fuel setup save yourself some headache! pretty cheap too!
either way have fun and GL!

thanks for the input, i just found a 351 that i can get for 200 and it was decently built the guy just went to a larger motor for his fox body. now i will need a different bellhousing than what a 302 would use right? and i know the 302 uses a 10.5 inch clutch, what does the 351 use?
thanks
thanks
