Which harmonic balancer for my 1989 5.0 GT?
Hello again friends I was laying under my car the other day replacing the clutch cable when I noticed some rubber hanging out of my harmonic balancer... Obvisaly this is not good and I am going to replace it, however I want a better quality balancer with out breaking the bank... As I'm looking at different web sites I see different styles and weights. My 1989 GT hatchback is basically stock with a few bolt in parts so I don't need a full race version but what weight should I go with and what are the differences... I do plan on a lot more upgrades down the road leading to a lot more power so would like one that I won't have to replace again as the power gets higher if possible. Thank you for any and all info you have.

On another well known forum, a well known poster recommended this one.

The weight has the do with the engine's balance. Stock 89 5.0 roller is 50oz. The 28oz. is for 351 and some strokers and 0oz is for internal balanced engines. As far as actual weight goes unless you have a race engine you dont need to worry about that much. A lighter than stock one wont show anything on a stock engine.
