Default Replacing Shaker 1000 head unit with aftermarket unit

I was thinking about replacing the factory head unit but i have heard of people running into trouble with the shaker 1000 head units and not being able to get the subwoofers to work. Has anyone replaced theirs and have any tips.

cd's jamned again huh?

there are no issues integrating into the 1000, there are only issues with some shops and the way they will want to do it. Ford premium sound systems have traditionally been difficult so alot of shops will tell you that you have to pull and gut then entire system. If you are in a place that says this just say thanks and leave, you do not want them working on your car.

I just replaced my stock HU 1000 with a Kenwood DNX5120 and 4 speakers 5x7 with kenwoods, as far as stock subs cannot be replaced with factory wiring do to different voltages. Changing the HU and speakers made the system sound 1000x better.

send me a PM. We (PAC) make a interface to replace your radio and keep the stock amps and subs.

Or you can buy a $15 harness and a $2 transistor instead of a $200+ interface that needs to hidden in your dash.

I just installed a pioneer AVIC F90BT nav unit to replace my shaker 500 system and my door subs work fine. Does the ford wire harness from crutchfield cover it if you have a shaker 1000 with the sub in the trunk as well or do you need a different harness with the 1000? The reason I ask is my friend has a GT500 with shaker 1000 and wants to buy the pioneer nav system after seeing mine but I didn't know if it would work or not with the trunk sub. Thanks!

If your paying $200 bucks for it, tell them to kiss you first.
