2001 Bullitt at Dealership....Need Advice!
Hi All,
My local Ford dealership called me the other day to tell me that they have a 2001 Bullitt in excellent condition. It only has 2,500 miles on it. A local guy traded it in for a new Shelby. I checked out the car today. It's in excellent condition. They have it in the showroom. It has a shaker hood on it too. My question is how much should this car cost? They list it for $19,997 and in the early talks with the salesman, he asking $18,997 for it. This seems kind of high, but I wanted some input on this. I have a 2006 V6 Mustang that I would trade in for this. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm on the fence with this one. I really like my car. I guess if I can get this Bullitt for a fair price, I would consider.
Thanks,
Dom

Well man with that many miles on it thats a pretty fair price because when they blue book a car they take the amount of miles in on how much its worth along with its condition and other things i would say thats a steal honestly.

Complete ripoff!!! Check the book value of it. It doesn't matter if it has 0 miles, it is only worth so much. For that kind of money you could get a real clean cobra with alot more power and better motor. Don't get me wrong, I love my Bullitt but that is way too much money for one.

i agree with wfo. I love my Bullitt.....but 20k?? No way. Its not worth that much anymore. This car is still in its depreciating stage. I bought mine for 15k with 48k miles August of 06. Even that was about 1k over blue book price at that time. 2500 miles or not its not worth 20k. Check out ebay, you can get an 03 or an 04 Cobra for 20k or 21k. They blow the doors of Bullitts. 275hp stock vs 390hp stock(390hp is underrated too). do the math :P But hey if you want to join our ranks and be a proud bullitt owner, go for it. I just personally think 20k is ridiculous. my 2 cents for ya.
Oh BTW, if it has a shaker hood, make sure its been done right and its a REAL bullitt. Just be certain its not a GT with some badges or something like that, make the dealer show you proof.

Good point 99. It is unusual to see a shaker hood on a Bullitt. It is alot of money to put one on for no power gains. Check the VIN and look for the Bullitt # on the driver side shock tower under the hood. Then go to http://www.imboc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85826to see if it is listed.

Remember when looking at book value. Each one is different and is only a "guidline" (look at all the books, kelly blue book, edmunds, NADA,,, KBB $14,820, Edmunds 12,500, NADA $15,475 the main difference between edmunds and the others is they give $ for the very low miles).
Car is worth what the market will handle and what each customer is willing to pay.
Example, classic muscle cars in particular true z28's and Boss 302's could be had for $5k all day long back in the early to mid 80's. If you would have had "forums" like this back then they would say you were crazy if you felt we would have to pay $60k and up for a 69 z28 in 2008.
Dealers use the "book" because they are trying to make the most they can on each car and often they don't know much about the cars they are buying and selling. Sothey use a quick reference guide to help them make fast decissions before we have a chance to wiggle of the hook and move down the street. It is myunderstanding that most dealers use the NADA book primarily...please correct me if I'm wrong.
I will step off my soap box now.... Bottom line is don't look to others for help on weather you should buy a particular car. There are just too may perameters that we don't know about you and the situation to give a solid answer. How long will you keep it? What sentamental value does it have (my dad had one just like it), what will you do with it (comute, race, drive on nice days).
All that being said, if you like it enough AND you can afford it AND you like it for all your resaons then BUY IT. Trust your gut.
Then again if I believe what I just wrote in and of itself is just my opinion and not worth more or less than anybody elses input.
Sorry if I confused the situation more.
edited to add the book pricing.
