MG,

Measure the axle width. The early mustangs are very narrow and only a few 65,66 came with a 9 inch rear (K motors). Mustangs with a 9 inch in 67+ were more common with the advent of the big block, however they are too wide for the early mustangs and need to be narrowed to fit properly.

I found a chart that showed the 77-81' Versailles measure 58.50 inches and the 65-66' mustangs are 57.25 inches, is this correct? If thats so, to make up for the 1.25 inches, would the wheel just have more backspacing to make up for this?
