66 mustang with s197 dash HELP!

Default 66 mustang with s197 dash HELP!

Okay so new to the forum and i recently started to build my 66 coupe i want to put a sn197 dash in there and cut out the old one so has anyone done this? I also know its 4" wider then the stock dash

Any help would be awesome

PHew. I admire your gumption because that has to be a heckuva undertaking.

I've never done anything like this but the results can be impressive.

A few years back I saw a '49 Mercury convertible that had the entire interior out of a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII in it. They did more than a dash swap though. They took everything out of the Mark VIII, running gear, wiring, etc. so that everything a Mark VIII did, the Mercury would do.

Why a 3v? If I was going to do a modular swap it would be a 4v.

4v around here are to much 3v should be alright with some bolt ons and a supercharger

That would be nice as well, but i think this setup will keep my content for awhile then super charge it to around 700

For a while.....hahaha.

I watched one of the Ford assembly videos they had posted in the articles section, the basic comment was the dash was one of the most complicated and intricate pieces in the car, so power to ya. Assuming that you will have to do some finagling with the center console, why not cut the 4" out of the middle and do some custom panel work instead of using the OEM console. Then you can make one seam cover for the dash pad and be done with it.

Its actually only 1" wider because the widest part sits past the post so half inch trimmed off each side im hoping will be taking pictures along the way fuse box and dash harness will be here tomorrow
