Default Edelbrock Top End Kit # 2091- 367hp/340lbft torque

Hello all I was able to get this kit still NIB from a guy who was needing cash for $800 so I couldn't pass on it. I have a 65 coupe, stock 289, C4 and 2:79 open rear. Haven't done any upgrades to motor yet and figured this was perfect for the money. I have upgraded to dual Flowmasters exhausts with tri-Y hedders. All front and rear suspension upgraded to grab-a-trax and I have dual master front disc brakes. The 289 is matching numbers. My plans for the motor b4 I came across the Eddy kit was to keep it original, remove it and drop in a crate 347. But that was going to be later down the road when I saved up enough. Here's a list of all the parts in the Eddy kit:
7122 Performer RPM Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam & Lifters
60229 (2) Performer RPM Cylinder Heads, complete
6991 Timing Cover Gasket and Seal Set
7364 Cylinder Head Gasket Set
7521 RPM Air-Gap 302 Intake Manifold
8524 Intake Manifold Bolt Kit
8552 Cylinder Head Bolt Set
7820 Performer-Link Timing Set
______________________________
The 289 still seems strong so I really don't want to have to pull it to rebuild the bottom end so my question to u guys is this:
Can i run the Eddy heads and intake with stock cam?
I was planning on getting some Comp Cams 1:6 roller rockers and hardened push rods.
Will the stock lifters be ok with the hardened push rods?

It will wake that motor up and get you about 299.9999 hp to the rear wheels. I run that kit in my 302 and love it. It's a perfect mix of good affordable power and drivability.

Just get some good rocker arms and push-rods and you're ready to go!

If you have an original engine then I would recommend that you keep all the old parts, like the heads and cam etc just in case you decide to sell the car you can get a higher re-sale value with the original parts.

Edelbrock advertises their HP numbers based on their compression ratio, make sure you have at least 9.5:1 to get their same number. Also its going to be a bit doggy on the bottom end with those gears.

When i used their heads, cam and intake many years ago, i lost hp because the chambers were bigger then my stock "worked" heads on the same cam/intake.

You can, but you should compare the lift and see how much power you might leave behind with the low lift stock cam. Why go thru the motions and leave good parts on the table?
New cam = new lifters.
