gears for 289

RE: gears for 289
You need to take into consideration what you use your car for and more importantly, your engine set up. You don't want too much gear for a low reving engine. Keep in mind, more gear = less MPG. I run 3.89's in my 69 coupe that's just used for play. That said, my 390 is a relatively low reving motor that makes a bunch of torque. I'm thinking about going down to 3.25's which will still let me keep the fun factor.

My 65 has 3:00's and I love'm. Low end bites the big one and no burn outs, but on the freeway, its killer. Excellent high end and with a slightly modified motor, I get around 24MPG.
