so you dont have a mustang? but the engine?
i dont know if it will fit, i know a 429 will fit in any style 67 - 73. but a 460 might be a tight fit.
i would try to get a mustang first, then worry about trying to fit a 460 in it. just cause there old, doesnt mean they are cheap.

i dont think finding the mustang will be a problem. money isnt the issue. and i dont have the engine either. i'm just looking at the possibility of doing this. i want something with BIG stock power before i put in any type of performance and i want a different engine than what everyone else has. it seems every guy and their grandma has the 351. not that the 351 is a bad engine by any means. i just want something different.

well you will be the first to do this on this forum i believe. just make sure its between 67 - 73. other years wont be able to do it without Major body work.
i have a 351cleveland, makes enough power for me. but even the tiny 289 could make big power.

You can put it in anything if you should get a "mustang 2" front end conversion and get rid of the shock towers all together....A 429 and 460 are the same thing so if a 429 fits in it, so will a 460 and 71-73's came with 429's.

Is there any particular reason you want a 460? Just curious. IMO ( your mileage may vary ) You'd get a bunch more HP Dollars out of building a solid Windsor or clevland motor. Heck even the old FE motors are doable. It's the weight that is going to be your main concern. The 460 is a brute make no mistake, however, it is incredibly heavy. Not something I'd consider Mustangish.
It's your money and time, friend. I'd do >alot< of homework on your project before you jump off in it.

If you really want the 385 series (429/460), go for a 71-73 as it will bolt right in. Earlier Stangs will need some sheetmetal work around the shock towers. As for power, you can't really beat a well built 385...there are just so many cubes to play with...and that torque.[sm=drooldude.gif]
