wiring harness replacement!
my car along with alot of classic mustangs have bad wiring, atleast 15 of my wires have black tape on them or have been spliced. my 66 mustang has only two major things wrong with it.. the gauges dont work and you have to tap the solenoid for it to start up. so im pretty sure its in the wiring,(after 250$ of replacements for parts that were no more broken than being old) so i ordered a all new wiring harness clips everything the whole deal and didnt know if i should go put in the time and effort to put it in myself and risk the flaw of my unexperiencedness, or take it to a pro that is gona charge me booku money to have it done? let me know your opnions on it and if someone has done this before if you can give me some pointers on it and the do's and dont's.
thanks.
thanks.

RE: wiring harness replacement!
Hi,
If your gauges don't work more than likely it is the gauge voltage regulator. It is mounted on the back side of the instrument bezel. It keeps the voltage steady to the guages. I know because mine just went out. Killed all of my gauges. Even if you put in a new harness you might need the voltage regulator. NPD has a new electronic type. That is what I ordered. The cheapest I found for the standard one is from Virginia Mustang. The normally run about 50 bucks but they have it for 25 or so. There are many good drawings on the wiring hookup of the instrument harness. I got an electrical assy. manual from NPD. It shows where all of the wires go and their colors. Take your time and you can do it! Don't forget to disconnect the battery
