How easy is it to convert a hard top to a fastback?

You would need to purchase a fastback to get the parts from. Why not just sell the coupe and get a fastback, then restore that fastback? Makes a whole lot more sense to me than ripping off the roof of a coupe and trying to fabricate a fastback roof line. God knows how much money, time and effort that project would cost, but it would not be cheap even if you are an expert welder and fabricator. Good luck with it if you do decide to take on that project.

There is a guy an ebay that sells a CD on "how to" convert a coupe to a fastback. The thing is, some of the interior parts are hard to find for a fastback and is your time not worth more to you then spending the money on a fastback? Just my two cents...

That's what I meant about purchasing a donor car. You can't purchase many of the aftermarket parts for a fastback, especially the interior parts, so you would need a donor fastback to get those parts from.

it would be sweet if someone line dynacorn started producing fastback roofs....they make pretty much every other body panel....hell, they make entire mustang body shells now....

Realy, where do you draw the line. This is the SC Cobra issue, original vs imitation. Keep a couple of parts out of production and you keep the hard core guys from complaning. ..

Dynacorn does sell the fastback roofs - I called and asked. It is for the 67 Mustang too. From what I understand there are some other parts that are needed on the interior but it is only a matter of time before they make those too so I would imagine that it won't be too long before this will become a standard conversion offered by them or someone who is already doing speciality body work. I wouldn't mind doing it as long as the '67 donor car wasn't valuable to begin with. Maybe turn it into a hard core Shelby racer clone - ??

Doesn't Dynacorn make an entire fastback body now? I thought I saw a picture from SEMA that showed a blue one.
If I had a choice between a 6 cylinder coupe, and a V8 fastback, that coupe would be converted in short order.

Sure is - I called them 4 months ago and asked the question as to whether or not I could buy just the roof and I was told it was available...
I saw pics of the blue one at SEMA - looks cool !
