Taking out ingtion switch bezel without tool

RE: Taking out ingtion switch bezel without tool
Here's what Shawn had to say about it awhile back. Sounds like the same procedure for removing it on my 65.
"Place the key into the switch. Then insert a paper clip into the small hole directly to the right and below the key. By rotating the key toward the accessory position and pulling out out on the key, the tumbler can be removed. Remove the bezel, unplug the switch leads and the switch can be removed. It took me a few times trying this procedure before the switch would come out. "
The bezel can be removed with a big screwdriver on my 65.

If your just refering to the bezel a pair of needle nose pliers should fit into the grooves on either side and turn. If the bezel turns with the nut reach around and hold it from underneath if possible. I don't know if you can reach it on a 69.

If just the bezel, a pair of needle nose pliers might work or channel locks. Doing it this way, you might scratch the dash, which may or may not be a problem depending on its condition. That's how I have to do it with my 58 Chevy. I actually looked for the tool and coudn't find one that fit it anywhere.

This is how I do it. Just take a small flat head screwdriver, put a paper towel or cloth over the blade (help prevent scratching) insert blade into one of the slots on the bezel and tap with a hammer counter clockwise untill loose enough to remove bezel by hand. To replace just reverse the process. Works like a charm and dose not chew up bezel like pliers will.
Good luck.
Good luck.
