Default 71 mustang differential

Im working on restoring a 71 grande. Im still new at working on car and my mechanic does most of the larger repairs. He was telling me that the nocking noice that ive been hearing is the read differential. He said that the bareing are starting to go and I was wondering if they rear even has them. Someone at work was telling me that the read doesnt have them and I dont really know. I seem to only hear the nocking noise when im staying at a constant speed and normally between 25-35 mph. if i go faster either it quiets or the engine is just to loud. at lower speeds i cant really hear it to much maybe here and there. I know this car still needs a bit of work but i can change a tire or maybe do an oil change so i dont want to get ripped off.

I do trust this guy because he saved my last car when a few others told me that i needed a new motor or to just trash it. it was an 87 dodge raider aka montaro 2 door. stopped driving it because it blew a head gasket. that my next challenge im going to try and replace it when i have 2 days to set aside and work on it. there are a few people at work that said they may help me if i rin into trouble but they dont really know much about older cars or well anything non honda 1990+
