Default New alternator ?

I am going to put a new alternator on my 351c and I want to get one with an internal regulator. Which one do I get? Will the 93 Taurus from the FAQs work? I don't want to change all the brackets for it. A friend of mine said to get a Chevy alternator, would that work?

I'm running a Powermaster 140A in mine, no problems. Internally regulated at 14.8v, the only thing I had to do was readjust the horns so they'd work right with the new voltage which was slightly higher than the stock regulator setting

Go to dbelectrical.com and order part no 7749. It's a 200 amp ,one wire, internal regulatedalternator for $200. It'll fit the 351c.

I just added one to my car and it caused the battery to go dead. I added it yesterday and tried to drive at night. In about 1 hour I was in Walmart parking lot putting my old alternator back in the car. I took the main wire to the battery side of the starter solenoid. Why did it not charge my battery?

Could've blown the rectifier, or you didn't get enough RPM's to initiate the internal charging circuits (field needs to be active for the alternator to work, and the alternator has to generate enough power to get the fields turned on).

I bought mine from Summit Racing (or maybe it was Jeg's). Just a Ford cased alternator made for the old style brackets. Beware, however, the alternator will be deeper and you may have some clearance issues with bolts on the cylinder head.

Well I did everything to it that I thought I the instructions said and it drained my batter down. There are some wires that were connected to the alternator and they are hanging there now. It looks like that go to acc, or something. Were there any other wires I was supposed to hook up.

I had the same thing happen. The first one was dead out of the box, then bought a powermaster 120Amp one and workes great.
