Default Rattle Question

has anybody ever got their mustang or whatever hot (overheated)? and when you did, did your 289 develop a rattle like mine? i recently got my 289 hot, to the point where it was having a hard time running. it didnt boil over, just really hot. i let it cool down for a day or so and started it up. now it sounds like it has a rattle from the bottom end. its not a knock and i have good oil pressure. does anybody have any guesses what it could be. if i had to guess, i would say oil pump. thanks guys.

Honestly I will guess that your rattle might be a broken/cracked piston, or even a bent rod if it got so hot that coolant might have gotten into a cylinder. (hydrolock situation)

New engine noise after an overheat is usually always a serious situation....

Sorry to be the bearer of what I think is probably bad news...

i thought that as well, but i threw caution to the wind and drove it around the block. normal driving, not careful cautious and nothing happened. i think its really weird.i guess im just goin to have to pull the oil pan to see whats goin on down there.
