67 fuel problem, I think...
My son waits till the last minute to fuel up and I think its whats causing my problem. Maybe some crud at the bottom of the tank got into the fuel lines.
Its a 67 with a 2 barrel carb. We can get it started, it idles fine, but when you give it gas, it sputters and chokes as if the fuel filter is clogged. It can be driven, but only at very low (20 mph) speeds and only if you depress the gas ohhh so slowly.
I thought it was the fuel filter so I pulled that and blew through it. Didn't appear to be clogged. I held the inlet line off of the carb and had someone crank the engine a couple of times and fuel spurted out. So it appears fuel is getting to the carb. Does that mean the clog is somewhere in the carb? Anything else I should test before I have to take the carb off? If the clog is in the carb, is that a fairly easy thing to clean out?
Am I thinking this all wrong? Is therea chance it could be an electrical problem? Points? Coil? I'm lost.

RE: 67 fuel problem, I think...
You can try rigging a fuel bottle under the hood for a fuel tank to see if that's your problem. Take off the hose at the pumpinlet and put a piece of hose on it going into the bottle of fuel. I have a clearin-line fuel filter just before my carb...maybe you could try the same. Your problem does sound like a jet is clogged though.

Can anyone tell me how much fuel the fuel pump should be delivering? If its delivering the proper amount, than I would think I wouldn't have to do what quinchem is suggesting, right? Also, if I can easily blow through the existing fuel filter, can I assume it's not clogged?
