EFI setup

EFI setup
i have a 347 roush motor thats missing the intake manifold and above. at this point in my project i need to make a decision on an efi or carb. setup. im leaning towards the efi setup because i was told it saves gas (with todays gas prices, thats a good enough reason itself) but not sure if its true or just a myth. can someone tell me the benefits of an efi set up?
if i was going to go with the efi, where can i pick up the parts necessary for such a set up. i looked at mustangs plus and they only offer the edelbrock conversion package and its running for 3,000 (a tad over my budget). would the efi set up out of a 5.0 work?

RE: EFI setup
buy a 1989-1993 5.0 stang, lincoln, tbird and pirate the fuel system then go the boneyard and get a 96-01 explorer intake froma 5.0 its the same as a cobra from ford racing

RE: EFI setup
I'm currently doing this swap on a Ford Racing B-cam crate motor. Mine isn't as hot as the Roush 347 and I can't use a lot of the factory EFI parts. You'll need a larger intake (as mentioned, the Edelbrock is a performance equivalent of a GT-40/Cobra), throttle body, fuel injectors, fuel pump, MAF, etc. Based on what I'm encountering, you'll likely spend well in excess of $1000 for the swap. On top of that, yours may need a good tune and/or chip mod as it is so far from stock. If you stick to a stock type swap (performance-wise)like that outlined in James' swap, it would be a lot more cheaper.
Excuse the pimp action , but if you decide to go carb, I'll be selling my take-offs that have 205 miles on them (Edelbrock thunder AVS 670 carb & air-gap RPM manifold, MSD billet dizzy with steel gear, MSD 6AL and tach adaptor, Holley red fuel pump, 'Cobra' valve covers, breather cap, PCV, etc.) It still wouldn't be cheap, but would be less effort and money than EFI. I won't lie, I'm switching to EFI for a bit better street-ability and hopefully economy :cough: as well.
Good luck!
