RE: just got a 65 mustang
nice looking car. Like they said, if it runs, leave it be. You're young and will have plenty of time down the road when you have more money saved up to do bigger and better things, but for now take care of it and enjoy it!!

Safety first. Nothing wrong with a I6. Just think in a year or so you will still be able to afford gas when the rest of us V8 owners will be riding Bicycles (I lied, I have an I6 also). The I6's will get in the mid 20's or better ,and cruise great on the highway. I would recommend, as others in this post, having the brakes and other safety items gone over first. A 5lb fire extinguisher securely mounted would be a good invertment also, along with 3 point belts. Your car looks great.

wats wrong with a V8 at 16??? When I got my car I was 15, and had a 4 barrel 351w of course it needed a rebuild, and I've been driving a 4 cylinder tacoma for over a year... soo I hope I can handle it by now.
good luck with your car bud, as for the chips just get some white paint chip fixer things. it'll make it look better for the time being

I bought the blue stang from a guy who's 16 year old son had his third wreck in the car.
Like everyone here has said, do the safety upgrades first and then worry about adding power. There's no real reason for a street car to need to go from 0-60 in 3 seconds but there's a clear need to be able to stop quicklyor not throw you out in a wreck. Too many idiots on the road.

Doing the swap now, will inevitably eat up very valuable time and money that you could be enjoying while you are 16...
I made the swap back when I was 15, and it was out of commission for over 3 months... and by the time it was all said and done, I spent over $2500... Then came the bug for more... aftermarket parts, and I ended up dropping another 10K....
By the end of it all, I still haven't driven it more than a half a dozeon months over a period of about 14 years...
Once you start this, expect not to drive it much. It's a bug... once you get it, it never ends...
Enjoy it now while you can. When you start making the big money and have a daily driver, then start the modding....
