Transmission leaks... needs a fix

Default Transmission leaks... needs a fix

Hey guys,

Got a bit of a problem here... What do I ask for when calling to order the new seal?

Please see the following pix

fluid leaks out nicely.... I lose about a pint every few days

I believe that is called the gear selector shaft seal. It goes behind the neutral safety switch. You will need to remove the nut and the arm. Remove the switch and you MIGHT be able to replace the seal from there.IF NOT you have to remove the pan andvalve body if you cant replace the seal from the outside.

I Ordered the part from NPD. They actualy have it on p130 of the 2008 catalog...
Middle column second from the top. $3.52.

The seal is removed and replaced from the outside. I can't remember whether or not the Manual selection lever can be taken off of the selector shaft or not. If not, you have to drop the pan so you can get to the internal nut that holds selector shaft on. I don't believe that the valve body has to be drooped also. It shouldn't be a big deal though.

theres 2 seal there 1 o ring that you can fix without pulling pan on the kickdown arm and the other is like they said you would have to pull the pan ,vavlebody and kickdown arm. mite try a little brake fluid 1st just to see if it would help softin it up some maybe a once and drive it around for awhile
