Wiring a 67 factory tach

RE: Wiring a 67 factory tach
I have attached pictures where I have circled the areas I'm talking about.
If you look at the lower right hand side of the housing where the tach goes, you can see that the two are different. The first picture shows what my housing looks like, has the voltage and oil gauges withouta tach. The second and third picture show the housing that I need to have a tach. I got the second and thirdpictures from tachman.com.
The housing used to hold the tach is I guess deeper area on the right hand side where the tach would sit. You can see that area that sticks out more like the speedometer side.
AscolA, do you have a picture of your housing that I could see?

RE: Wiring a 67 factory tach
I see. I checked and have the same setup that you have now. Sorry.
Here is another option if you don't have any luck finding the correct cluster housing:

It fits were the factory clock is supposed to be.

RE: Wiring a 67 factory tach
This is what the back of the ignition switch looks like. There's a solid yellow, solid black, red w/ blue stripe and a redish pink wire. Am I wiring the tach from the redish pink wire?? You can't see some of the colors cause they are covered with tape.

68 tach
I installed a factory Tach in my 67 a while back, I made this diagram to help me remember how I did it. The factory tach hooks up to the positive side unlike aftermarket tach's. The power goes thru the tach on an original Ford tach. The coil should not have an internal resister, if it does just bypass the pink resister wire. I basically cut the red wire from the ignition and ran it to the tach, then ran the black wire from the tach to the end of the red wire I cut in the harness. It seams to work fine on my car and I have an electronic ignition.
