I also used to own a 71 coupe (grabber yellow) and this is a 72 Mach, engine just redone and putting everything back together.

I have noticed lately that there seems to be a few more 71-3 owners popping up. I was just wondering how many of us are willing to admit in public that we own one.If so how many have you owned throught your travels. My self I have had three. My firdt was a 73 mach Qcode automatic, secondone was a 71 mach with a 460 c6 and 4.11's and now I have the beast in my sig, 73 fastback 302 3speed car but the drivetrain was long gone before I came into it. Came with a locked up 4v cleveland.
The 73 Mach1 was the star of the show.
I found a $5 DVD at walmart and it was worth it.

72 Mach1
I have a 72 Mach1-302 2v (see Mods), C4. I picked it up at the recommendation of my teenage son who thought it would be a great father-son project during a divorce.
Just now getting it on the road-top end rebuild, new cooling system, rebuilt C4, and a zillion things too numerous to mention. Finally installing the rebuilt tranny tomorrow so I have yet to drive it more than a couple of blocks at a time. (--The roar of near-straight pipes split the cold winter night while the neighbors are snug and quiet in their beds while a classic Mustang blasts up their usually secluded cul-de-sac. "Dad! this is the fastest car I've ever driven!")
Haven't touched the body yet. some rust around the rear wheel well, a couple of small floor rust-outs, dent removal and paint to finish it off. It is basically unrestored so I don't have to deal with someone's mistakes.
Mods: Holley Street Avenger 4bbl, Edelbrock Performer intake, Mild street cam, Headers, High flow dual exhaust+mufflers (Mufflers? hardly, this car is LOUD). TCI Sizzler torque converter, Fresh HD C4 rebuild, Shift kit.
Getting it street legal including emissions testing, has consumed my attention as I lost the use of my garage and need to get it so it can be parked legally. While it has been one thing after another as I went through it, I think I will be driving by the end of the week. With the lower gas prices, I intend to drive it regularly. Still tons to do, but I'm going to enjoy the fruits of my labor. As I once told my son, "Life is better with a strong V8 to drive."
