a new fuel pump is about $15 or so,...............you can replace them very easy,..........."so easy, even a cave man can do it"..........
park it pointed downhill, and, if, in the morning, you have a gas stain on the street,.........you have a bad fuel pump. the diaphrams are thin rubber, and wear out, dry out, shrivel up,..........
i'd check filter, and pump, etc. pull the line off, try to start the car, and see if there's a lot of gas flowing out of it via a second person watching. if no gas is making it there, then your problem is before that point,.........if you are getting lots of gas there, then the probelm is in your carb. shoot a bunch of carb cleaner in there,..........where the line goes into the carb, and wait, keep doing that for a little while. could be a ball of goo in there...........just did that on mine. happens every once in a while.

Thunder... nope, no improvements yet. I've just decided to admit that I'm not awesome at diagnosing this stuff, so I'm going to take it in to a local shop to check it out for me. I wanted to do it all myself, but I can't find the problem. You don't by chance know of someone that could work on it for me, do you?

I'll let you know what I find out!

try this first. get a can of carb cleaner. take the fuel line OFF, where it goes into the carb. have someone sit in the car, and try to start it. if fuel comes out, then your pump is working fine,.............it it barely trickles out, you've got a plugged line, and or your pump is bad. parts are dirt cheap,...........you dont need to pay $75 an hour on this problem.....................
if all that works, then you've got a plugged carb, which i just had, and i stuck the can of carb cleaner in there, and sprayed,.........where the line goes in.
mine fired right up. try that,...........and if nothing happens, at least you can say you tried. make sure you've got fuel in teh tank too,...........one of my friends replaced his pump, only to find out he was STILL out of gas.................
