Default Engine Bay Refresh - Pertronix, Wires, Air Cleaner....

OK,
Well last summer I my project was to redothe entire interior, the year before was the exterior refresh, and this year is the engine bay. The pics below are of the engine bay when I firstpurchased the car. It came with some nice Ford Racing aluminum valve covers that may just need a little cleaning. Since I purchased the car I have added an Optima red top with billet tray, new battery cables, new windshield washer bag, AC compressor plate, and some tri-y headers to the engine bay.

I am looking to switch from points to a Pertronix I and Flame Thrower Coil. Can I directly swap my horizontal black coilwith a flame thrower coil? Do I need a bracket? Do I need the oil or expoxy filled version? Any ideas for any nice air cleaners? Also looking for some new red wires to match the red top battery, any suggestions on size/brands?

Thanks in advance!

Default RE: Engine Bay Resto - Pertronix, Wires, Air Cleaner....

Great timing on the Flame Thrower Coil question as I was about to ask that myself. I've already purchased a Pertronix I ignition. Will be replacing my new battery with the Optima red top as well to trunk mount as its sealed. For your wires go with at least 8mm to 8.5mm or a good set of 9mm if you find them on sale. Also get the cut-to-fit wires and a nice wire loom separator like THIS one. Bought a set of the Silver ones for my father's AMC 360 with 8.5mm wires and the wires fit fine. Looks great also!

btw.. Great looking car!
