mustang appraisal...
ok so now that i am starting to take apart my stang and i know that its the original motor i am trying to decide whats a better route to take...a custom restoration or a factory resto. i have a 67 coupe...289 (originally a 2bbl 200hp), c4, 8"w/2.79s... if i restored it back to factory specs and made it look like it just rolled off the production line how much do u guys think it would be worth? if its not ever going to be worth a lot maybe just do my own motor build? opinions and appraisals please!!! thanks guys

67 coupes really aren't worth much even restored. Fastbacks and verts are where the cash is and will be for sometime. If its been modified much don't waste your time or cash on an original build thinking you'll ever see your money back. Do what you want with it for your own liking.

it has not been modified at all...car hasnt been butchered one bit except for headers and me putting a new intake and carb on which is easy to swap out...so in the long run it wont be worth that much?

Whats 'the long run'? 10 years, 15, 20? While I love seeing 100% original cars it take the right person to own one. Also it'll still be a long time before any coupe will be an investment like some FBs and verts are. With a coupe it comes down to what you want to do with it and its overall current condition. Make it what you want it to be and enjoy it. Do you want an original car or a modified car?

I agree that you might as well build it like you want it. If you want it to have white walls and factory hubcaps then do it. Either way. Just dont put and Eleanor kit on it.
Here is what I did with my coupe. I wanted to keep all the classic look but upgrade some things. I didn't want it too look very modified.

wow tx65coupe...your car is really clean i like how u did it up...when u put the t-5 in there was there any fabrication? i really feel like pulling the orig. drivetrain and putting it in my shed is a good choice. i can do what i want to the car now...and in years from now if the car is ever worth a lot i can just swap the old drivetrain back in...can u see these coupes ever going for a lot of money if they are all original?

Thanks!
There wasn't really any fabrication work involved for the T5. I did have to get a custom driveshaft made. That was because I also went with a 9 inch rear end.
I think one day a long time from now the coupes may bring in big bucks, but not anytime soon. There is too too many of them. Thats the part I like though. It makes the hobby affordable and more people can have and enjoy one.
Thats a good idea about saving the original drivetrain.

Enjoy your car and restore it/modify it any way that makes you feel happy and do it for the long haul because in the end no one will appreciate the car as much as you and you will never see your money back unless it's a shelby or something like that , even then , you are probably better off finding a deal from a seller who already restored the car up to the tilt and need to sell because he needs the money , buy it for a good price and then flip it and make a profit , remember , you should buy when you don't have to buy and sell when you don't have to sell.

I have never had in the dyno, so I don't know what is putting to the tires. The flywheel hp is over 300. Its plenty fast for what it is. I don't plan to really compete or race it.
