8.8 Rear End Swap into 67 Coupe
#21
I just saw this post a few minutes after I initiated a new one on the 8.8 Turbo Coupe conversion in a 65/66 that I just completed on my '66.
"Is it worth it?" depends on how much mechanical ability you have. If you are capable of handling moderately advanced tasks, then YES, it is worth it. If you have to pay to get it all rebuilt and converted, then I'd doubt it.
In any event, the 67/68 swap is fairly easy. You can change the stock 8.8 28 spline axles for the 1984 Ranger LEFT axles (and other years that will fit the '84 Ranger). If you don't want to buy a lot of adapters, just shortened the housing. The 65/66 is a fair amount more work, but still worth it to people who aren't afraid of doing the job right. BOTH cases, the 65/66 or 67/68 can use stock OEM brake calipers, stock caliper hoses, stock E-brake cables, etc, etc. Send me a PM to find out how.

I did the 8.8 conversion in my 67 Mustang. I also put power brakes and the front disc brake conversion. I've bleed the brakes many times and the pedal still goes to the floor. Does anyone had this issue with the explorer rear axle conversion?
