Default Aluminum Radiator

I have a 67 289. I have a sotck radiator, the previous owner had it recored. Under my ownership it started to leak out from the top and i had it welded. It is leaking again, Im not sure if I should have it welded again, buy another stock radiator or just get an aluminum. I told my dad about the aluminum and he says its not worth it cuz u get cant weld those. Im not sure if hes right or wrong but I cant drve with a faulty cooling system in miami. Thanks.

The aluminums cost more but are supposed to be worth it. I'm pretty sure they are of welded construction also.
It sounds like you have a pressure problem...is your cap working correctly?
Try some water wetter next time...

Yea the aluminum ones are more expensive. How can watter wetter help?
Its not leaking from the cap but leaking from the where the top of the radiator meets the actual body.

Aluminum radiators definintely cool better than copper/brass core rads, but only in extreme heating concidtions such as racing. It sounds like your old rad is on it's last foot, and you need to replace it with a new 3 or 4 row. Water Wetter is a good additive, but that is only one of the things you need to do/add to get your temp to operate correctly. If your rad is leaking, then it is not holding pressure, which is what you need. Welding and re-coring radiators only makes them last a little while longer. If you truly want your Mustang to run for a long time with a good cooling system, then don't take the southern engineering way out. Get a new radiator.

Thanks soaring. So unless im hitting the track i shouldnt bother with aluminum? I should just replace it with normal 3 or 4? Does 4 row cool better than 3? Thanks.

For a C code 289, a 3 row will work just fine, and yes the 4 will cool more than a 3 row.

Cheers....[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Also, if replacing a radiator, changing the hoses is a good idea as well.
