Default First time poster - with Mustang drama

Hi everyone, just found the site as I was doing some google searches and realized I better join the club. Here's my Mustang story:
I'm inheriting a '69 Mustang (grande). Based on the vin I've determined it's a 390 factory car. About 25 years ago the 390 went bad and somebody swapped in a 351C. For some reason that quit running and the car has sat for 20 years.
I'm in the process of getting it moved and restoring life into it. My goal is to pull the 351C and do work on it over time. At the moment I have access to a nearly free 351M (I know it's considered a mut), but like I said it's nearly free. I'm hoping to drop the 351M in the car just to make it driveable for the time being.
Are there any hidden things I need to consider before doing this? I've read the motor mounts will need addressed. Really I'm just trying to figure out if this is a waste of time to make an attempt with the 351M.
Thanks

I think the 351M and 351C have different bellhousing bolt patterns. Not sure, but I thought the M had the same bolt pattern as the big blocks and the C had the small block bolt pattern. I'm sure one of the gurus will have a more informed take on it.

yes, the m uses a 429/460 bell housing pattern. the c is same housing as 351 windsor. you might have to mess with the exhaust.

the cleveland has oiling issues you should address.

Thanks for the input. From what I've read, a 302 might be a better way to go if I can get one cheap enough.
Here's another question, what are the complications of swapping from a carb to an EFI motor?

You'll need to go to an electric fuel pump, and you'll have to add all the wiring/computer to run the EFI system. Whether you do that by getting something from a donor car or buying new is a different question. Pros and cons to both.

If you got the buck's Holley makes a nice TBI setup that is bolt on and self-tuning
