I am looking into engines for the swap this summer, and im stuck between 298, 302, and 351. I have heard many different opinions, such as a well built 289 can take any 302, and that the 351 wont fit. Keep in mind, im on a limited budget for this project. Are there pre fab'd mount kits for the 351, or would i have to fabricate my own? Also, i want to get rid of the C4 in favor of a manual transmission. I would really appreciate it if any one could give me some advice on the engine and transmission. Thank you.

ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT A CLEVELAND OR WINDSOR? IF ITS A WINDSOR ALL V8 TRANNYS WILL BOLT UP BUT THEY ARE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. CLEVELANDS ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

When I was a kid, I had a 66 coupe with a factory 289. After it wore out, we put a 351w and "regular" c4 in it. I never looked back, it was a world of difereance, the torque was there on command, and man the engine bay just looked stuffed full of v8 goodness. If you have the means, I would go with the 351w.
