You would need the whole rear end.... I believe they make 3.73 for the 7.5 rear end...

yea, you have to get the 7.5"
If you are concerned with power Auburn makes an awesome little 7.5" Torsen differential that can handle somthing like 500ftlbs torque or somthing around those lines.

If you are ready to upgrade then go grab yourself a 94-98 GT or Cobra Rear end and stick it up under there, you get the ABS (If you wish to go through the trouble of installing the whole system) you get the disk brakes, the 5 lug pattern and a strong rear end. I bought mine for $40 somthing complete, course thats because I worked at the wrecking yard but you should be able to get one for around $250 from a wrecking yard. Dont get scammed, try to check the gear raito before buying. The one I bought had 2.73's in it but I didnt care because of the price I was getting. If you are worried about if it will bolt up, dont worry. 79-04 Is a fox body chassis and the rear end will bolt up to yours. Hard to believe that the same basic structure stayed the same for almost 30 years. Front suspension is the same too, you can get the IFS out of a Mach1 or Cobra and stick it under your car. You have to change the K-member too but hey, you can upgrade the engine or just make custom mounts, depending on what you want to do.

Good Luck

You will hurt those axles on a sticky tire. We ran a 7.5 with a mild 306 back in 1990 with a mild 8.5 tire and snapped an axle 2 times, before we went 9 inch

The rearend will bolt right up, you can use your 5 lug axles. But I don't know if that 85 rearend will accept the disk brakes. I'm sure there's a kit if needed.

I'd still go with the advice I gave in your other thread if it were me. 8.8 rearend with gears already installed are not hard to find.

And again, try not to dig up old threads on this. We have to read the whole thread before we get to your post to understand what your looking for.
