Windshield Repair Kit
Picked up a chip in my windshield on my way to work today. Of course it is directly in my line of site. Has anyone had success with repair kits sold at auto parts stores? Before I call a pro I'm wondering if I shoud give it a go?

It worked me, I got a spider crack on my windshield, picked up a 10 dollar repair kit and did it myself after watching instructions on YouTube. There is still a visible crack but it's not getting bigger and I'm not bothered much about it just being there.

I know this is a few weeks old, but....
If this is still an issue for you, check with some of the big auto glass shops around you. Some of the bigger chains offer free stone chip repair.
Being a former glassman myself, I can tell you that there isn't much to the process. The most common method is a vacuum that sucks the air pocket out of the "chip" and then it's filled with a clear epoxy that hardens with UV light. The epoxy is stronger than the glass itself so it is reliable. Takes 15-20 minutes or so.
