Default '05 GT > My gauges aren't working (RPM gauge completely out of synch)

Hello guys.

I bought a used Mustang GT '05 a while ago and according to the guy the gauges just randomly stopped working.

Although at the time the RPM seemed to be working fine (although I'm not sure how accurate it is) but right now the needle is just completely out of place (at idle it's pointing at around 5K or so revs).

I was just wondering is the fix for this costly? I've heard people tell me it's just a fuse that needs replacing but the gauges aren't completely malfunctioning they're just mostly out of synch (except for the fuel level one that's stuck at H and the others just seem to be giving inaccurate information).

What do you guys think?

Well if none of the gauges are working then they probably are sharing a common problem.. Look under the dash do you see signs of hacked wiring etc? Maybe someone installed then removed an aftermarket stereo or alarm & knocked loose a ground wire?

yes, check fuses and grounds.

If it's JUST your RPM gauge you should check the signal wires.

If it's not that stuff goodluck! I hate electronic gremlins
