Default 2000 to 2004 3.8 alternator swap

I have a 2004 3.8L that the alternator is going out on. I have a brand new alt off a 2000 3.8L (which I stripped after totaling it) I would like to try to use. The 2000 alt has an extra single pin connector that the 2004 car does not have. I am not able to determine from wiring diagrams exactly what the single pin connector is used for. Does anyone know if this alt will work without the single pin connector hooked to anything in the 2004? If it does need a connection, what would it connect to?

My guess is that its an aftermarket alternator on one of the cars and that's why they don't match up. Hook it up, as long as the other connections match you should be fine.
