Default RE: Power Shifting

Can I ad one thing from personal, "hands on" experience? Before building my 65 FB, I built a 1965 Coupe restomod with a 306, T5 & 4.11's. Daily driver, weekend racer. Someone also suggested power shifting to me. Only 1-2 and 3-4. Within 4 weeks the T5 was showing signs of wear, and got a bit sloppy. Within 8 weeks, on a drive one day, she locked up in second, and that was it. After teardown I was amazed it had lasted as long as it had with all those metal chunks in the bottom.

My suggestion would be, that if you are planning to move up to a Tremec or a T56, give it a shot..

Ron

Just my .02 cents...

And there you have it.Thats how you powershift.

See why it is so harsh on your driveline?

Very nice explanation Mustang88LXKid that was a TEXT BOOK perfect answer GOOD JOB MAN!
thanks GmKiller, its no problem, it is so harsh on your driveline. haha text book perfect answer hehe.

Ok heres HOW TO POWERSHIFT if your that crazy and want to destroy your driveline

How to Powershift
The Power Shift Shuffle goes something like this- the gas pedal goes to the floor and stays there- never lift! Preload the stick by pulling on it before you reach your shift point. At the pivotal moment simultaneously KICK the clutch pedal and slam the stick into the next gear. Time it right and you will see the rpms climb 200 to 500 rpm between gears and feel a strong surge as the next gear engages. I started power shifting only the 3 to 4 shift my last track day of 2001. It is the easiest shift, straight back, with time to prepare mentally while 3rd winds out. I was able to knock off a pair of 13.50 runs that day and go home grinning from ear to ear. It was time to go to the next level and see if I could actually improve on those mid-13’s. (from fordmuscle.com)

How else do you think some high-schooler can break his diff in his Saturn without doing burnouts? Gave me a good 2/10 in the 1/4 though
