do people in the millitery get any discounts on the new mustangs?

Not that I know of......
Naval Reserve here and a Buddy of mine works for Dealership where I purchased auto from is Reserve also....
I did not receive a discount. Years worth of "Wash Tub" washes though for what they are worth...

But, who knows.....there maybe one out there.

I actually did get a discount from the dealer. While I was in Iraq, my wife bought my 05 GT and not only did she pay under MSRP, after the dealer heard the story that this was my surprise gift, he also gave her the $500.00 military discount plus threw in the 7 yr, 70,000 mile warranty for cost.

I would bet that if you are overseas and have a AAFES sales rep around, you will be one of the few that can order (with quick delivery) a GT or convert GT. Sounds like the regular dealers are sold out for 2005 for those models. AAFES should have a certain allocation and that might be the best way to get an 05 GT or convert GT the quickest and cheapest.
