Does anyone know the laws in Louisiana regarding exhaust systems? I want to get a cat back system for my 99 v6 but I don't want to get a ticket for having a ''modified exhaust''. Any information will be appreciated.

personally i go to a super sketchy inspection place who doesnt check anything but the mileage so i could run straight headers and pass..and around my are there are trucks you can here from a mile away just dont floor it or rev when you see a cop and your ok

There are a lot of loud a$$ trucks in my area too, and they seem to be doin okay. Thanks for the tip.

my friend had a 05 silverado and cut it off before the cat and it was ridiculously loud but we were next to state troopes at lights and he would ease on the gas and be okay..if he floored it he got a ticket but that only happened twice

Its not normally enforced unless its unreasonably loud.

if my dad with his exhaust on his 5.0 doesnt have problems, you wont. and i dont with my catback either

I live in Jefferson parish on my 90 I have no cats and 40 series flowmasters and have never been checked.i believe certain cities and baton rouge do check Jeff parish is safe
