Default Intake spacer

So I have read around and I am on M1R, about the intake spacers. Whether it be 3/8 1/2 3/4 etc.

Two things I guess I was wondering. What would be the best all around spacer as far as performance and no fitment issues with the EGR/under hood lining and skaker.

Some people say the pressure on the hood "isn't that bad" with the larger spacers, but that's someon's opinion and isn't really quantified. One person'e "not bad" is someone's "really bad" lol.

Second, anyone have proof of performance increase? Dyno graph or drag slip?

I see people on M1R seem to follow trends set by other big members on there sometimes "just because they said so". I'd like to get more/other opinions as well. I've also read on SVTP that "the mach 1 guys love the spacer and see anywhere from 8-12hp increase".

Thanks guys
Dean

I had a hell of a time getting the egr back on with just the 3/8th spacer, to the point that I ended up deleting it. I would say the 3/8th is the way to go unless you have a heavily modified engine. With the 3/8 spacer I did notice that there was room to go thicker as well.

agreed the the egr will likly not go back on on any spacer above 3/8" but I did get mine on and sealed. as for performance I didnt notic anything but I only drove it around for about 15min then it went back in the garage for the cam swap. I did see a dyno graph on m1R for a spacer but it was awihle ago, it did show a gain but I dont remember how much or what size spacer it was???

well you guys seem to cover the thickness/egr question. I'll prob go no larger than 3/8

I'll have to poke around for any concrete gains. So far it seems like exhaust gains...all going by SOTP dyno...my response to that is everyone wears different size pants.

the gains are not much, maybe a couple horse power and tq. It is suposed to flatten out your tq curve a little bit. So in all its one of those mods that isnt really going to give you that much, but for the price WHY NOT! One of the best bang for the buck mods at under $100 dollars!
