Default 4r70w with 351w

I have a 98 mustang 3.8 that I am swapping in a 351w into. I need help figuring out how to use the 4r70w tranny without a computer. Ive read about the beauman computer, im just wondering on if theres another option. I dont wanna spend 400 on that computer when i could just buy a c4 and customize it myself.
Help?

Why keep the 4r70?
An AOD will do that job with no computers and it's still an affordable 4spd auto...

yes, you can use the 4r70w but without the controller it is not gone to shift but they do make a manual valve body for them now.there is also a shift kit out that lets you change it over to a make you own valve body.
