Engine swap into Cougar 2000
I own a Cougar ( 2000 ) since may last year ( 2012 ), and allthough its a car i really like... I want it to have a bigger engine. Admitted... It is the 2000cc ( im not familiar with cubic inches im affraid so google told me its 122 cubic inches(?) ).
The thing is... I want it to have a bigger and more torque-y engine. But since its a not known car in Holland ( we just got 34 of them according to the ministry of traffic ) i thought i'd turn my hopes on guys who actually know about engines with big deplacements.
Main question is: What engine would fit a Cougar if it's gonna be a v6 or v8?
Side question: Is it possible to convert into rearwheel drive to make it completely unique?
I know i ask a lot for a new guy here... But i hope someone can and want to help me out

Those cars came with a 2.0l inline four or a 2.5l V6 as an option. I'm not sure what kind of engine swap you could do to it, your best bet would probably be figuring out how to fit one of those 4 cylinder euro focus engines.
As far as RWD, sure, you could do it. Anything can be done, however that would require SERIOUS fabrication work.

Anything is possible but how are you gonna pass the yearly inspection in your Country with that car then?
In Belgium, if you put different size tires on your car than the manufacturer used, it will fail inspection, lol.
So I'm curious to see what your plans are about dealing with the laws...
Oh and Stevo: The fast Focuses in Europe use the 5cyl Volvo mills (with or without Turbo)...

well the inspection isnt gonna be the biggest problem. you are alliwed to change engine. you just have to get your car reinspected by the RDW (for holland) and if it passes the test youll get new papers. Biggest issue will be OF i convert to rwd... which this car shouldve had standard in the first place...
i did thought of an euro focus/volvo engine... but since it has 5 cilinders... and my registration says 4... any good and powerfull 4 cilinder engine could be placed in my enginebay without reinspection of the rdw since my papers dont give an engine code or anything but the amount of cilinders maybe time to consider and buy an 6cyl cougar and place a better more powerfull 6 cylinder engine?... :/ would live a rawing v8 though...
