also, from what ive seen with these forum suits, there is more to be known than everyone knows about...what we are hearing is usually only a small part of the story. part of this is due to some forums who are asked/ordered to change something and rather than thinking "ill just do what i need to in order to stay in good terms with *insert company name*", but instead they try to rally the troops and make a ton of noise around the internet to try to sway the company out of the lawsuit but that NEVER works. the best way to go about things is to keep your mouth shut (as the forum admin) and do what is asked and look like good people to the company. the forums who try to fight back are jackasses, as the lawyers wouldnt have contacted the forum if they didnt have a tight case. the bottom line is that some of these forums like to use trademarked logos and images and claim them as their own or as "public domain" rather than making slight changes to their forum.

a lot of people only pay attention to the 'top' story, but never really pay attention to or focus on 'real' story (that's a major pet peeve with me ). we need to make sure we do pay attention to the whole story so we won't blow things out of context

I have to agree, he should be suing to protect his name.

It's copyright infringment for anybody else to use his name, or the name (s) and or symbols of products that he owns and has copyrighted, plain and simple. The man has a right to protect what is his by law. Why is he a douch for protecting his interests. You might think that using the Cobra symbol on your website is no big deal, and doesn't hurt anybody, but Mr. Shelby sees it as stealing. Besides, if he lets one person use his likeness w/ out permission, who's to stop others from doing the same thing? Before you know it he's getting ripped off left and right.
