Wait for a message or change the oil now?

Only 3000 miles on my 2011 GT, no oil changes yet and the oil is a little low (between 1/2qt and a 1qt). Should I top it off and wait for the notification that a oil change is due or just go ahead and change it? If I wait, what oil is best to mix with the factory fill? FYI - When I do change the oil, I will be going with a synthetic oil.

I would just go ahead and change it out. But if you do wait any oil should be compatible with whats in there now.

Change it and go with a good synthetic (no real bad ones) and you'll be good to go

I agree, as I would go ahead and change the oil. It's at 3,000 miles, which means the engine rings have seated. Go ahead and dump it to get the initial wear metals out of the engine.

+1 on this. I am waiting for 3K to change out the oil in my 11. Going to go with Amsoil 0W-30.
